Welcome to the MSU Counseling Center. We provide confidential counseling services to all MSU registered students. We also provide testing services to both students and the general public.

Counseling services are confidential and students may receive up to 8 free sessions. We provide personal, couples and group counseling.

Consultation and treatment is provided to MSU students for a wide range of mental health concerns including: mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, alcohol/substance abuse, and psychosis. Students with mental health concerns who desire consultation/treatment with a psychiatrist should first present to the Counseling Center.

Enrolled MSU students receive the first three psychiatry visits at no charge.

EAP staff provides emotional support and short term counseling (up to 6 sessions) to current/retired MSU employees, employed graduate students and the immediate family members for persons in these groups. Services are designed to assist employees and their families work through life changes, expected and unexpected events, chronic physical and emotional health issues, and work/life balance concerns.

EAP services are confidential, free of charge, and part of the benefits of employment at MSU.

Michigan State's employee health promotion program includes a focus on emotional wellness, nutritional health, and other lifestyle areas that can impact a person's mental and physical functioning. Stress reduction workshops, emotional wellness classes, and one-on-one coaching are available to assist employees and their partners learn about and enhance their emotional health. The Health4U serves faculty and staff, retired faculty and staff, current graduate student employees and the spouses and partners of individuals from any of these groups.

The Department of Psychiatry is part of MSU HealthTeam and provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment for adults, adolescents, children, college students, young adults, and the elderly with a wide variety of mental health disorders.

The MSU Psychological Clinic provides psychological assessments and therapy services to the general public; including adults, adolescents, children, college students, young adults, and the elderly. Fee for services at the Clinic is set on an income-adjusted basis.

The MSU Family & Child Clinic is the clinical facility of the Ph.D. specialization in Marriage & Family Therapy (MFT). All therapy is conducted by MFT doctoral interns under the supervision of clinical faculty. The Clinic provides therapeutic services for families, couples and individuals of all ages. Services are available at a reduced fee.
